Zheng Zhang, Principal Investigator, Full CV
Dr. Zhang joined UCSB as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in July 2017. He received his Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2015. His research interests include uncertainty quantification and tensor computation with multi-domain applications including design automation of electronic and photonic integrated circuits, high-dimensional data analytics and machine learning, and autonomous dynamic systems. Prof. Zhang received two Best Paper Awards from IEEE Transactions, one Best Dissertation Award from ACM SIGDA, and a Doctoral Dissertation Seminar Award from the Microsystems Technology Laboratory of MIT.

Post-Doctoral Researchers

Chunfeng Cui, PhD Google Scholar
Chunfeng received her PhD degree in Computational Math from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2016. After that, she spent one year at the City University of Hong Kong as a postdoc researcher, where she worked on optimization and tensor methods for hypergraph, computer vision and bioinformatics. She joined UCSB in Nov. 2017, and she is currently working on two topics: (1) uncertainty quantification for electronic and photonic design automation, (2) tensor methods for machine learning.

Cole Hawkins, PhD student in Math Google Scholar
Cole received his B.A. degree in Mathematics from Amherst College, Amherst, MA, in 2016. He started his gradaute study in the Math Department at UCSB in 2016, and joined our group in Fall 2017. He is interested in tensor computation, uncertainty quantification, and Bayesian inference.

Ahmed Wahba, PhD student in ECE Google Scholar
Ahmed received his BSc and MSc degrees in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He is a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSB, and he has been co-advised by Prof. Zheng Zhang since Summer 2018. Ahmed is interested in semiconductor manufacturing yield data analytics.
Kaikai Liu, MSc/PhD student in ECE
Kaikai received his B.Sc. degree in Physics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China in 2018. He joined UCSB in fall 2018, and he is interested in uncertainty-aware and data-driven techniques for design automation of integrated photonics.
Kaiqi Zhang, PhD student in ECE
Kaiqi received his B.Eng degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University of China in 2016, and his MSc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Davis in 2018. He joined UCSB in fall 2018, and he is interested in tensor methods for hardware/algorithm co-optimization of machine learning.

Zichang He, MSc/PhD student in ECE Google Scholar
Zichang received his B.Eng. degree in Detection, Guidance and Control Technology from the Northwestern Polytechnical University of China in 2018. He joined UCSB in fall 2018, and he is interested in uncertainty quantification and statistical inference for tensor computation.

Huishan Chen, MSc student in ECE
Huishan received her B.Eng degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCSB in 2018. She joined us in Fall 2017 during her undergradaute study. Currently she is working towards her MSc degree, and she is interested in verification and control techniques for autonomous dynamic systems with uncertainties.

Max Gershman, Undergradaute student in Math
Max is expected to receive his B.A. degree in math at UCSB in 2019. He is interested in tensor methods for data analytics and for machine learning. Previously, he worked on uncertainty quantification with correlated non-Gaussian random parameters.

Weiyun Jiang, Undergradaute student in ECE
Weiyun is expected to receive his B. Eng degree in ECE at UCSB in 2020. He is interested in design automation algorithms. He is currently working numerical methods for oscillatory circuits and systems.

Xiyuan Zhang, Undergradaute student in ECE
Xiyuan is expected to receive her B. Eng. degree in ECE at UCSB in 2020. She is interested in FPGA acceleration of machine learning algorithms.

Cong Zou, Undergradaute student from Tsinghua University
Cong is expected to receive her B. Eng degree in Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University in 2019. She joined us as a visiting undergraduate researcher, and she is working on tensor methods for machine learning.
